Inlays or onlays are used to protect and support a back tooth which has been weakened by decay or trauma.
These dental restorations can also be used to replace old fillings and are fixed into place with a dental cement.
The added benefit of inlays and onlays is that unlike with dental crowns, less of the natural tooth has to be removed before fitting.
An inlay is fitted in between the four corners of your teeth, while an onlay offers slightly more coverage and is fixed to slightly overlap the corners of a tooth.
While inlays and onlays can be made from metal, the most popular material we offer is ceramic, which is coloured to match the natural teeth. In addition, Moorside Dental Practice has the advantage of CEREC technology which means your restoration can be built and fitted in just one visit.
